Soviet Order of the Red Star #1434949

Soviet Order of the Red Star; Made of silver and enamels. Measures 47.71 mm in width, 45.71 mm in height and weighs 32.1 gram without its screwplate. The mint mark is located above, and the serial number underneath the screw post.

This original order is in worn condition. The higher laying parts like the soldier show heavy wear although the lettering around the edge is still perfectly readable. The enamel of the 7 o’clock ray of the red star has been replaced but is otherwise fine. The screwplate is of a later period the screw has not been shortened.

Probably awarded during the spring of 1945 so with nice research potential.

The Soviet Order of the Red Star was given to Red Army and Navy personnel for exceptional service in the cause of the defense of the Soviet Union; in both war and peace. Also awarded for 15 years of service prior to the creation of the long service awards.
