Awarded for caring to wounded solders and officers under the harshest of circumstances
Medvedeva was part of the relieving forces of the Leningrad blockade. The 136RD (later 63GuRD) participated in it at this time; Operation “Iskra”
Made of solid silver and lacquer. The medal itself measures 32.12 mm in diameter and 36.89 mm in height including the eyelet. It weighs 21.7 gram without its suspension and 30.4 gram with the suspension but without the nut. The eyelet is 5.49 mm in width and the suspension measures 25.31 mm in width at its narrowest point and 31.51 at its widest point.
The medal is in great, above average condition with several small dings and scratches but most details crisp. Most of the red lacquer filling the letters ‘CCCP’ is present although some parts are gone. The silver suspension is original as is the brass screw, hexagon nut and the plate holding the ribbon. The brass screwplate containing the text ‘Monetnij Dvor’ is original and time period by itself but does not belong to the medal. Its connection ring has not been cut.
Scare to find, especially when awarded to a woman!
