Awarded to Major Grigory Ivanovich Korolyov (Григорий Иванович Королев)
For risking his life and fearlessly carrying out all assignments from army command
This order of the Red Banner made of solid silver and enamels. Measures 41.02 mm in height, 36.82 mm in width and weighs 25.6 grams without its screwplate. The serial number and the mint mark are located at the 6 o’clock position of its reverse.
The order is in relatively good, above average, condition. Most details are present including those on the higher laying parts such as the torch and the flagpole. The center wreath shows medium traces of wear. The red enamel is nice condition too. It shows some enamel loss on the top red banner and some chipping on the center star. The white enamel is flawless. The order has not been converted to a suspension type and the screwpost is full length. It comes with its time period silver screw plate.
Short Description of his feat of arms:
“Since the beginning of the 40th Army’s winter offensive, comrade Korolyov has carried out combat missions pertaining to maintaining communications and exercising command of the units during the operations to capture Ostrogozhsk, Stary Oskol, Kharkov, Akhtyrka, etc. Faced with enemy supremacy in the air, he risked his life and fearlessly carried out all assignments from Army command right on schedule, which contributed to the successful defeat of the enemy during the battles on the approaches to Stary Oskol and Kharkov.
When the Army went over to the defensive, he was mostly posted on the front line. Through his painstaking, day-to-day efforts he was able to identify shortcomings and resolved them on the spot, thus systematically strengthening the Army’s line of defense.
He deserves the Order of the Red Banner.”
