Awarded to partisan private Vikenty Semyonovich Sushkevich (Викентий Семенович Сушкевич)

 

Partisan in the Adam Mitskevich Partisan Detachment

 

This fierce detachment is known for the Koniuchy Massacre in 1944

 

 

This group consists of the following items:

 

Partisan Medal 1st class

Made of solid silver. Measures 37.73 mm in height and 32.23 mm in width. It weighs 21.5 gram. This Partisan Medal 1st class is in excellent, far above average condition. All details are crisp and there are only few dings and scratches. The medal has a beautiful dark patina on both sides. Its connection ring has not been cut and the suspension and ribbon are original to the medal. The medal comes with its seldom seen award certificate dated June 6th 1945. 

Medal for Victory over Germany

Made of gilded brass. Measures 36.81 mm in height (incl. its eyelet) and 32.19 mm in width. The medal is in excellent condition with all details visible and full gold plating. There are several small dings and scratches on both sides but nothing distracting from  the overall appeal of the medal. The brass suspension is time period to the medal and it comes with its document dated  May 29th 1946.

 

Jubilee Medal “30 Years of the Soviet Army and Navy”

Made of gilded brass. Measures 37.28 mm in height (incl. the eyelet) and 32.17 mm in width. The medal is in near mint condition with all details crisp and full gold plating. The medal comes with its document dated October 13th 1948.

 

Research of the Order of the Partisan Medal 1st class:

Brief, concrete description of his feat of arms or achievements:

“During his time in the detachment, comrade Sushkevich showed himself a capable and exemplary partisan during both combat and support operations.

On December 16, 1944 he took an active part in crushing the enemy local self-defense garrison in the village of Konyukhi.

He was actively involved in destroying 2 German vehicles carrying soldiers on the main road toward Eishishki.

On July 7, 1944 he was part of an outfit that blew up railroad tracks on the Vilnius-Grodno railroad line.

As chief of food supply, he provided the detachment with provisions, while simultaneously taking part in combat operations.
