Group of a Soviet Order of Glory and Campaign Medals

 

Awarded to Guards Sr. Sergeant Nikolaj Efimovich Mikus (Николай Ефимович Микус)

 

For acquisition of intelligence which resulted in the elimination of the enemy targets in the Crimea peninsula. He personally killed 12 enemy soldiers and was wounded twice in 1943

 

 

The group consist of the following items mounted to an old medal bar:

 

Order of Glory #36719

Made of solid silver and enamels. It measures 46.42 mm in width, 48.29 mm in height and weighs 24.2 gram . The serial number is located on top of its reverse.

This early order is in nice condition with medium overall wear. The enamel is fully present and only shows some superficial flaking only. There are several small dings and scratches on both sides but not distracting the overall appearance of the order. Its connection ring has not been cut.

 

Medal for the Defense of Leningrad 

Made of gold plated brass. Measures 32.32 mm in width, 38.17 mm in height including its eyelet and weighs 17.5 gram.

The medals is in excellent overall condition with all details still visible and a fair amount of gold plating present. Its connection ring has been cut.

 

Medal for the Defense of Stalingrad

Made of gold plated brass. Measures 32.16 mm in width, 36.89 mm in height including its eyelet and weighs 15.6 gram.

The medals is in a nice, worn condition. The higher laying parts show medium to strong wear although a fair amount of details are still visible. The gold plating has worn off and its connection ring has not been cut.

 

 

Brief, concrete description of his feat of arms or achievements:

“He was efficient in spotting the enemy firing positions in the operation for German defence breakthrough during 08-14 April 1944 near the town Armiansk (Crimean Autonomous Soviet Socialist republic), as well as in the later engagements on the Ishun’ positions, and for the towns Yevpatoriya and Saky. He promptly relayed the intelligence to the battery, which then eliminated the enemy targets. He also were locating save passages through the enemy minefields and led the battery in their advance to the new firing positions. He has 12 killed enemy soldiers on his account.

He deserves state award – order “GLORY III CLASS”.”
