Soviet Medal for the Defense of Odessa Variation 1 WW2

Made of gilded brass. Measures 32.14 mm in width, 37.01 mm in height including its eyelet and it weighs 16.0 gram without its suspension.

This medal is in a nice, decent condition with medium overall wear and an appealing patina on both sides. There are several small dings and scratches and especially the higher laying parts like the soldiers and the lighthouse lack some details. The double layer suspension is time period to the medal and its connection ring has been cut.

Scarce and increasingly hard to find

This medal was awarded to all participants in the defence of Odessa. Both to soldiers and civilians, who took part in the defence of Odessa during its siege by German forces.
