Soviet Medal for the Salvation of the Drowning with document

 

Awarded to Georgy Petrovich Zacharov (Георгий Петрович Захаров)

 

 

Made out of gilded non-ferrous metal. It measures 32.14 mm in diameter, 37.14 mm in height including its eyelet and it weighs 14.9 gram without its suspension.

 

The medal is in near mint condition with all details crisp and all gold plating still present. Even the higher laying parts show almost no wear. Its suspension is time period to the medal as is its ribbon.

 

The award booklet is dated 29 June 1983 and is in problem free condition.

 

 

Awarded to any person (of any nationality) for courage, bravery and selflessness whilst rescuing a person/people from water. Also awarded for outstanding vigilance and resourcefulness preventing drowning or for excellence in organizing of rescue operations in Soviet waters or of Soviet citizens.
