Captain Lieutenant [Navy Lieutenant] [signed] /Volkov/May 22, 1945
I award the Medal of Nakhimov.”
“Seaman Chervinsky has been taking part in combat minesweeping missions since August 1944. While sweeping Feodosia Gulf and Koktebel Bay he showed bravery and courage. During combat minesweeping missions comrade Chervinsky kept a lookout for mines for 12-14 hours on end; properly and promptly reporting on mines he spotted, repeatedly saving both the crew and the boat from peril.
The minesweeper on which comrade Chervinsky serves enabled the detonation of more than 200 enemy mines.
Rowing a two-oar dinghy comrade Chervinsky detonated more than 20 enemy mines. Without regard for the danger and in spite of the difficulties, comrade Chervinsky more than once unwound lines that were tangled around the screw, each time working under water for 2 hours without any special appliances or diving equipment. He thus ensured the minesweeper was returned to duty in the fastest way possible, right in the minefield.”
