Researched Soviet Order of Alexander Nevsky #40791

 

Awarded to Guards Captain Nikolai Pavlovich Ivanov (Николай Павлович Иванов)

 

For fighting at the Polish city of Breslau

 

 

Made of solid silver and enamels. Measures 51.37 mm in height and 50.11 mm in width. It weighs 43.6 gram. The serial number and the mint mark Monetni Dvor are located at the 6 o’clock position underneath the screw.

 

This original order of Alexander Nevsky is in nice condition with no enamel loss. The order shows medium wear and most details are still visible. There are several small scratches on the silver and contact marks on the enemal but nothing destracting from the overall appeal of the order. Much of the gold plating is still present. The screw has its full length and the order has no repairs. It comes with its time period silver screwplate.

 

 

Short Description of his feat of arms or achievements:

“During the operation aimed at destroying the encircled enemy garrison in the city of Breslau; Guards Captain Ivanov’s battalion provided artillery support in the field for the 416th Rifle Regiment. Owing to the proper way in which he directed his battalion’s artillery fire during the offensive operations at Breslau, 1 self-propelled gun and 57 machine-gun positions were destroyed; 45 soldiers and officers were killed; 29 fortified buildings were pulverized; 23 machine-gun positions, 3 self-propelled guns, 1 armored personnel carrier, and 3 small-caliber artillery pieces were suppressed; and up to 50 enemy soldiers were dispersed.”
