Soviet Order of Glory 2nd class #18443 (thin variation)

 

Awarded to Private Aleksej Polikarpovich Shostik (Алексей Поликарпович Шостик)

 

For being the first to rush into a fortified cellar and eliminated 4 Germans by his grenade and also being the first to run into the fortress and killed 3 Germans

 

 

Made of silver and enamels. Measures 49.32 mm in height, 47.34 mm in width and weighs 20.8 gram without its suspension. The serial number is located on top of its reverse.

This original order is in excellent, well above average condition with much gold plating present. The red enamels are all present and original and without substantial chipping or flaking. The higher laying parts of its obverse show light wear only and even the roman numbers on the clock of the tower are still readable. The order comes with its time period double layer steel suspension and its connection ring has not been cut.

 

Brief, concrete description of his feat of arms or achievements:

In the combat engagement near the town Pyritz on 02 March 1945, comrade SHOSTIK was the first to rush into a fortified cellar and eliminated 4 Germans by his grenade. In the assault on the fortress Pyritz, he was the first to run into the fortress and killed 3 Germans in one of the houses. He acted exceptionally bravely and courageously in these combat engagements, and his actions inspired the other men.

Comrade SHOSTIK deserves state award – order “Glory II class”.
