Soviet Order of the Patriotic War 2nd class #39022

Awarded to Scout Private Sergei Ivanovich Machursky (Сергей Иванович Мачурский)

For attacking a column of German motorcyclists when they drove into an ambush. After he jumped out of the ambush shouting to them in German, the convoy stopped and he killed two Germans with his machine pistol. He personally captured two serviceable motorcycles and one prisoner

Made of solid silver, gold and enamels. The order weighs 25.6 gram without its screwplate and measures 43.75 mm in width and 45.70 mm in height. This early screwback order is produced by the Krasnokamsky Mint (KMD). The minimum known serial number for this variation is 34787 and the maximum is 71998.

In a nice, vintage condition with crisp details and and a medium dark patina to the silver on both sides. The enamel is mostly present with a few tiny chips on the white circle around the lettering and shows some corrosion/pitting. The reverse is in very good condition and clearly shows the ‘starback’ which is typical for this variation. It comes with a well fitted screwplate of a later type.

Brief and specific description of the personal feat or merits:
