Made of solid silver and enamels. Measures 46.18 mm in height and 37.83 mm in width. It weighs 22.9 gram. The serial number and mint mark are located at the 6 o’clock position of its reverse.
This original WW2 order of the Red Banner is in a great, well above average condition. The details are crisp and the enamel is stunning and only shows minuscule, barely noticeable superficial flaking near the right edge of the top red banner. The order shows an appealing layer of dark patina. The reverse is problem free and also shows a desirable patina. The connection ring has been cut and the award comes with an old double layer brass suspension.
Probably awarded the second half of 1944
The Order of the Red Banner recognized military deeds. Before the establishment of the Order of Lenin, the Order functioned as the highest (and practically the only) military order of the USSR. Practically all well-known Soviet commanders became Cavaliers of the Order. Also awarded to NKVD personnel.
