Soviet Order of the Red Star #1436117

Awarded to Georgian Guards Junior Sergeant Georgi Gavrilovich Atayev (Георгий Гаврилович Атаев)

For courage in Berlin where he killed two German soldiers

Made of silver and enamels. The order measures 48.92 mm in width, 47.38 mm in height and weighs 30.1 gram without its screwplate. The serial number is located at the 6 o’clock position and the mint mark on the 12 o’clock position of its reverse.

This original order of the Red Star is in an excellent, well above average condition. Most details are crisp and even the higher laying parts show light wear only. The enamels are beautiful and without repairs. The reverse is in excellent condition too and both sides show an appealing dark patina. The screw is full length and the order comes with its time period screwplate.

An excellent example for fighting in Berlin

Brief, concrete description of his feat of arms or achievements:

“Guards junior sergeant Atayev serves as kaptenarmus of a battery of the Ukrainian army. Devoted to the cause of the party of Lenin-Stalin and the Socialist Homeland. Comrade Ataev in the battles for the capture of the capital of fascist robbers – Berlin, showed exceptional staunchness, courage and bravery.

On April 14, 1945, Captain Armoum Ataev was ordered to dress the entire staff in a new uniform, and Comrade Ataev did an excellent job of this, although comrade Ataev was bombed in the area of the regimental observation post in the reconnaissance platoon, he managed to hide the vehicle with the property and completed the battle order in a timely manner. From the day of the offensive on 04/16/1945, Comrade Ataev was at the front line of the regimental observation post all the time, where he regularly provided hot food to all the officers of the artillery headquarters and his battery personnel, where Comrade Ataev had to carry hot food to the soldiers around the clock and repeatedly got under enemy fire.

04/25/1945, in Berlin, Comrade Ataev was fired upon by German soldiers during the supply of food to the soldiers, but Comrade Ataev was not afraid, he managed to get the car out of the shelling and took his fighters and annihilated two Nazi bastards. Nutrition throughout the offensive to all personnel was excellent and timely.

For his courage in providing hot meals during the battle, Comrade Ataev is fully worthy of the government award of the Order of the Red Star.”
