Soviet Order of the Red Star #439092

Awarded to Major of the Northen Fleet Mikhail Alekseevich Glovenko (Михаил Алексеевич Гловенко)

Order of the Red Star; Made of silver and enamels. Measures 48.78 mm in width; 46.93 mm in height and weighs 27.2 gram. The mint mark is located above, and the serial number underneath the screw post. The minimum known serial number is 235999 and the maximum is 594967.

This beautiful order is in pristine, well above average condition with most details crisp. The red enamel is flawless and even the higher laying parts on its obverse show almost no wear. The silver has an appealing dark patina on both sides. Its screw has not been shortened and the screwplate is time period to the order.

According to records this Red Star was awarded to naval major Glovenko. There is no citation of his Red Star online but it could be found in the archives. Excellent further research potential!

Next to impossible to upgrade. Probably awarded in the winter of 1943.

The Order of the Red Star was given to Red Army and Navy personnel for exceptional service in the cause of the defense of the Soviet Union; in both war and peace. Also awarded for 15 years of service prior to the creation of the long service awards.
