Researched Soviet Order of the Red Star #48582

Awarded to Captain Ivan Ivanovich Putevskoy (Иван Иванович Путевской)

 

For being a proactive and courageous commander and destroying loads of enemy equipment and personnel

 

Recommended for the Order of the Red Banner 

 

 

Made of solid silver and enamels. Measures 46.70 mm in height and 48.34 mm in width. It weighs 31.6 gram. The serial number is located at the 6 o’clock position and the mint mark on the 12 o’clock position of its reverse.

 

In worn but decent condition with lots of character. Some of the higher parts on the obverse show strong wear, especially on the soldier. However, the enamels are in nice condition, free from repairs and show contact marks and dings only; no chipping or flaking. The reverse is in much better condition and its serial number and mint mark are crisp. Its screwpost is full length and the order comes with its time period silver screwplate.

In the Peretskaya area, he scattered and destroyed up to an enemy infantry company and 3 carts with ammunition with mortar fire.

In the area of the Warsaw highway, in the village of Podberezve, he destroyed up to a platoon of infantry and 3 firing points with mortar fire.

In the area of the village of Pocheyok he destroyed 4 bunkers, 4 firing points and destroyed a barn and a house and also scattered an enemy infantry group of up to 1 company. Later he scattered and destroyed up to an enemy infantry company with mortar fire, which ensured the exit of the 3rd rifle company from an encirclement.

Comrade Putevskoya serves in the unit from the beginning of its foundation in the position of the commander of the 1st mortar company and from June 1942 as deputy commander of the mortar battalion of the 1092nd rifle regiment. In all battles, comrade Putevskaya showed himself to be a proactive and courageous commander and is worthy of being presented to the governmental award order of the “Red Banner”.”
