Not even the higher laying parts like the hammer and sickle show any wear. Its reverse is in mint condition as well and shows an appealing shine. Brief, concrete description of his feat of arms or achievements:

“During his time in the 24th Tank Brigade’s 2nd Tank Battalion as a T-34 tank commander, comrade Veretennikov showed himself a decisive and audacious officer.

In combat his tank always led the way.

During the fighting near Dagda in the Latvian SSR, comrade Veretennikov killed up to 20 enemy soldiers and officers during an enemy counterattack. In combat near Liksnas, comrade Veretennikov’s tank also inflicted considerable losses in troops and materiel upon the enemy.

I apply for comrade Veretennikov to be awarded the Order of the Patriotic War, 1st Class.”
