Serving in the 261<sup>st<\/sup> Rifle Division he showed himself a steadfast, audacious, and self-possessed leader.<\/p>\n<p>On August 3, 1944, during the fighting southwest of the village of Putki, on the western bank of the Narva River in the Estonian SSR, he led his platoon forward and was wounded a fifth time.<\/p>\n<p>He deserves the Order of the Red Star.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><span style=\"text-align: left; text-transform: none; text-indent: 0px; letter-spacing: normal; font-family: 'Open Sans',Arial,sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; word-spacing: 0px; display: inline !important; white-space: normal; cursor: text; orphans: 2; float: none; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: #ffffff;\">Citation for the Order of the Patriotic War:<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Brief, concrete description of his feat of arms or achievements:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Having served in the Tank Training Regiment since November 1944, Senior Sergeant Grichko showed himself a disciplined and dutiful junior commander.<\/p>\n<p>He possesses volitional qualities and is demanding of both himself and his subordinates.<\/p>\n<p>On April 20, 1942, during the offensive in the direction of the city of Novgorod, he displayed bravery and heroism.<\/p>\n<p>He maintained uninterrupted communications for the battery commander. This didn&#8217;t succeed and the division suffered heavy losses. Grychko was also wouned in this period.
