Made of solid silver. The medal for Bravery measures 37.08 mm in diameter and 42.42 mm in height (including the eyelet) adn it weighs 26.5 gram without its suspension.<\/span><\/p>\n

The medal is in nice, about average condition with most details still visible and a light patina on both sides. The red lacquer filling the letters is all gone and its connection ring has not been cut. The brass suspension and old ribbon are time period to the medal.<\/span><\/p>\n

Medal “For Bravery”
\nSr. Sergeant TOMENKO KALENIK NIKITOVICH, the artillery unit driver.<\/p>\n

During the period of combat operations of the regiment during from 23.06.1944 till 05.07.1944, comrade TOMENKO proved himself as a courageous, brave, and experienced driver. In the engagement near the village Starosel’e (Orsha region) on 27 June 1944, he uninterruptedly delivered the ammunition to the firing positions masterfully manoeuvring his truck between the artillery shell and mine explosions. Thanks to his effort, the artillery batteries could successfully repel all of the enemy attacks and suppress the enemy firing positions.<\/p>\n

Born 1918, VKP(b) member, Ukrainian, worker, education of 7 year school, in Red Army since 1938, Patriotic war participant , not wounded, with clear criminal record, not yet awarded.
\nDrafted to RKKA in 1943 by Novaya-Ukraina district military commissariat, Kirovograd region.<\/p>\n
