Awarded to Private Gavril Vasilievich Korolev (\u0413\u0430\u0432\u0440\u0438\u043b \u0412\u0430\u0441\u0438\u043b\u044c\u0435\u0432\u0438\u0447 \u041a\u043e\u0440\u043e\u043b\u0435\u0432) <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n For actions during the Battle for Petsamo (most northern sector of the Finnish-Soviet border)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Korolev was quite possibly the only person being awarded two Medals for Bravery during the Winter War!<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Made of solid silver and enamels. The medal measures 37.09 mm in diameter and 3.14 mm in thickness. The height of the medal is 42.01 mm (including the eyelet) and the medal itself weighs 30.5 gram. The suspension measures 25.41 mm in width at its narrowest point and 31.17 at its widest point. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n This medal for Bravery is in a nice combat condition with medium to strong wear on the higher laying parts. Most details however are still visible and the enamel filling the letters is fully present although showing some minor cracks and flaking. The suspension is fully original as is its rare ‘mondvor’ screwplate and its screw has not been shortened.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n In the picture gallery a document can be found linking the medal number to the awardee. Private Korolev was a private and actually received 2 Bravery medals with consecutive numbers, both were handed out to him on the same day on 12 August 1940! With this he is quite possible the only person with 2 Medals for Bravery for the Winter War. He was awarded by 14 Army command, which was engaged in the Battle for Petsamo during the Winter War (most northern sector of the Finnish-Soviet border in the Arctic region).
