Awarded to Sergeant Yakov Panteleevich Vydysh (\u042f\u043a\u043e\u0432 \u041f\u0430\u043d\u0442\u0435\u043b\u0435\u0435\u0432\u0438\u0447 \u0412\u044b\u0434\u044b\u0448<\/span><\/strong>)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n For eliminating 12 Germans in an ambush on a scouting mission in 1942 <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Since this was Sgt. Vydysh’s only numbered award, it can be considered to be a complete group<\/strong><\/b><\/span> <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Made of silver and enamels. Measures 46.21 mm in width, 48.46 mm in height including its eyelet and weighs 23.1 gram without its suspension. The serial number can be found on the top of its reverse.<\/p>\n In excellent, well above average condition with problem free enamels and an appealing even dark patina on both sides. The higher laying parts show light wear only and its details are all visible. Its connection ring has not been cut and the order comes with its correct, time period suspension and old ribbon.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Short translation of the research:<\/strong><\/p>\n “Being in the position of the batteries` master sergeant of the 689th Infantry Regiment, 14th Infantry Division, 6th Army, Southern Front, on February 13, 1942, he was in the rear area of his regiment where he received replenishment. Together with the gun commander – sergeant \/ do not know his last name \/ was heading towards the front line at night during a snowstorm and lost his way. 12 German scouts were walking towards Sergeant Major VYDYSH and the sergeant who was following him. Master sergeant VYDYSH discovered them earlier than the German scouts did and, having turned off the road and standing aside from a haystack, he disguised himself with the sergeant who was following him. Being unnoticed by the Germans, they remained at the haystack until all twelve German scouts approached the haystack, after which Sergeant Major VYDYSH and the sergeant who followed him covered the Germans with grenades, as a result of which all twelve German scouts were killed.<\/p>\n Seriously wounded in his right leg at the moment of acute insufficiency – lack of sergeants in the battery, Sergeant Major VYDYSH remains in the battery from May 17 to May 22, 1942, and was evacuated only after the arrival of reinforcements.<\/p>\n I presented him personally for a governmental award. He did not receive one due to the loss of communication with his unit. As a result of a severe injury to the right leg, the latter is atrophied. He was never captured or encircled.
