Worker at a collective farm named after Molotov
Made of solid 23 carat gold. It measures 33.54 mm in height including the eyelet, 31.98 mm in width and weighs 16.6 grams without its suspension. The text Герой Социалистического Труда (Hero of Socialist Labor) is located at the centre of the reverse. This later variation has the serial number at the 6 o’clock position in contrast to the early variation which has the number at the 12 o’clock position. The front of the medal shows a hammer and sickle. The suspension is authentic to the medal and measures 26.20 mm in width at his widest point and 21.57 in height at its narrowest point.
The star is in excellent condition with sharp edges of the hammer and sickle and few traces of wear. The letters on the reverse are crisp as is the serial number. The suspension includes its time period and original ribbon, rectangular plate and both the hexagon- and round screwplate. The connection ring between the suspension and the medal has not been cut and the screw is full length.
The star comes with its large award document and original cover both in good condition. It is dated 16 April 1949 (awarded the 19th) and written out to “Арутюнян, Феня Езекимовна”.
Short biography on Harutyunyan:
Harutyunyan Fenya Yezekimovna – worked at a collective farm named after Molotov in the Nor-Bayazet region of the Armenian SSR.
She was born in 1922 (according to other sources – in 1921) in the village of Noratus of the Armenian SSR, now in the Gegharkunik region of Armenia.
After graduating from a rural school in her native village in 1939, she joined the local collective farm named after Molotov in the Nor-Bayazet region. Initially, Fenya Ezekimovna worked in the field-growing brigade No. 9 on tobacco plantations, she was constantly in the forefront. In 1946, she headed the tobacco-growing unit No. 4, which in 1948 received a crop of tobacco of 23 centners per hectare on an area of 3 hectares.
By the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of April 16, 1949, for obtaining high yields of rye, cotton and tobacco in 1948, Arutyunyan Fene EzekimovnaHe was awarded the title of Hero of Socialist Labor with the Order of Lenin and the Hammer and Sickle gold medal.
By the same decree, three more leading collective farms named after Molotov, with whom Fenya Ezekimovna constantly competed, were awarded the high title, including the future chairman of the collective farm Sashibek Karapetyan .
In subsequent years, the tobacco growers continued to receive high yields of tobacco – a heat-loving and extremely labor-intensive crop.
She lived in the village of Noratus in the Nor-Bayazet region (since 1959 – the Kamo region), later moved to the city of Yerevan. The date of her deathis not known.
She was awarded the Order of Lenin (04/16/1949) and medals.
